Demopup ("we") helps you turn web pages you choose into shareable product walkthroughs. This policy explains what the Demopup Capture browser extension and the Demopup web app do with data.

What the extension captures, and when

The extension does nothing until you click the Demopup toolbar icon and choose to capture the current tab. There is no background monitoring, no automatic capture, and no browsing-history collection.

When you capture a screen, the extension reads the currently visible page's DOM (its HTML, styles, and the images and fonts needed to render it) and turns it into a single self-contained snapshot. Before the snapshot leaves your browser it is sanitized: scripts are removed, and credential-shaped data is stripped, including password fields, hidden form tokens, and query-string values whose parameter name looks like a secret (token, secret, jwt, api key, auth, session). You are responsible for not capturing pages whose visible content you don't want to share.

Where captures go

Captures are delivered to the Demopup web app running in your own browser. If you are signed in, they are stored in your Demopup account, held with reputable third-party cloud infrastructure providers; if you are signed out, they stay in your browser's local storage only. Published demos are stored as read-only snapshots and are accessible to anyone with the link you share.

What we do not do

Analytics and error reporting

Our public marketing website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic, for example which pages visitors read and where they arrive from. This helps us improve the site. It sets cookies and does not identify you personally to us.

The web app may use privacy-preserving error reporting and a minimal set of product analytics events, for example "a capture succeeded" or "a demo was published", to keep the service reliable and improve it. There is no session replay, no autocapture of page content, and no ad tracking.

Data retention and deletion

You can delete any demo from the Demopup app, which removes its stored data and its published snapshot. To delete your account and all associated data, contact hi@demopup.com.

Permissions

See the extension's Chrome Web Store listing for a plain-English justification of each browser permission it requests.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for the content you choose to capture and share, and for keeping your account access secure.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Demopup is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Demopup and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the service or any unauthorized access to, use of, or alteration of your content.
